My aesthetic in ceramics blends ingenuity with a contemporary sensibility into a dynamic relationship between graceful forms.
I love the feel of clay and the immediate response of the material, communicating at a sensory level. I believe the senses bypass logic and provide a direct route to our inner life. I work in a territory inhabited by fleeting moments. Clay's malleability lends itself to the making of unique forms while the kiln generates unpredictability and surprises.
I utilize a range of gestural shapes, including vessel and figurative forms. Also, a variety of glazes, different surface treatments, and multiple firing methods, including high fire, soda, and wood firing combine with the form to give each work its individual character.
I am a multimedia artist. As I move from one medium to another. I encounter problems that can provide a variety of challenges that demand me to adapt.
My aim in art-making is to surprise myself and viewers while creating the new.
I do my work in my studios in Hawaii Island, Hawaii and Fountain Hills, Arizona. My work is collected widely.

“I am content that my art should have purposes outside itself. I would like to exert influence in these times when human beings are so perplexed and in need of help...my course is clear and unequivocal."
-Kathe Kollwitz
